Two-Step Authentication (2FA)
Learn how to secure your Mirronet account with Two-Step Authentication and how to set up an Authenticator app.
Two-Step Authentication (2FA)
Two-Step Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Mirronet account. When this is turned on, anyone trying to log into your account will need two things: your password, and a special 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds on your phone.
Even if someone guesses your password, they cannot get in without your physical phone.
⚠️ Important: Do You Have a Password?
Before you set up Two-Step Authentication, you must have a standard account password. You will need this password if you ever want to turn 2FA off.
If you signed up using Google, Apple, or your Phone Number, you might not have a password yet. Please follow these steps first:
- Log out of your Mirronet app.
- On the Login screen, tap Forgot Password.
- Enter the email address linked to your Google, Apple, or Phone account.
- Check your email for the reset code and create a new password.
- Log back in with your new password. You are now ready to set up 2FA!
How to Set Up Two-Step Authentication
Setting up 2FA is simple, but it requires a free "Authenticator" app to generate your secure codes. We recommend downloading Google Authenticator or Authy from the App Store or Google Play Store before starting.
Step-by-Step Setup:
- Open the Mirronet app and go to your Dashboard.
- Tap on Two-Factor Auth (it should currently say "Disabled").
- You will see a QR code on your screen.
- Tap the Open Authenticator App button. This will automatically open Google Authenticator or Authy and link your Mirronet account.
- (If the button doesn't work, tap the copy icon next to the long text key, open your Authenticator app manually, and paste the key in).
- Your Authenticator app will now show a 6-digit code.
- Go back to the Mirronet app, type in those 6 digits, and tap Verify & Enable.
How to Log In with 2FA Enabled
Once 2FA is turned on, logging in will look like this:
- Open Mirronet and enter your email and password (or use Google/Apple/Phone login).
- The app will pause and ask for your verification code.
- Minimize Mirronet and open your Authenticator app.
- Memorize or copy the 6-digit code.
- Go back to Mirronet, paste the code, and you are in!
How to Turn Off Two-Step Authentication
If you want to remove this extra security step, you can disable it at any time.
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Tap on Two-Factor Auth (it should currently say "Enabled").
- Tap the switch next to Authentication App to turn it off.
- For your safety, the app will ask you to enter your Mirronet account password.
- Type your password and tap Disable.
